Tulsa Western swing pianist Clarence Boyd dies at 76

Thursday at the First Baptist Church of Kellyville. For more than 60 years Boyd played with numerous national artists including Johnny Lee Wills Jim Reeves Patsy Cline Reba McEntire and Marvin McCullough. He was also a longtime regular with the Tulsa swing act the Round Up Boys. And he did it all playing by ear ? he never learned a note of music he said. ?If you can hum it whistle it or sing it I can play it? Boyd said in a 1997 interview with the Tulsa World. Longtime friend local radio and TV personality Billy Parker agreed. ?In my whole career he?s probably the sweetest kindest best musician I?ve ever worked with.

href;Tulsa – For the first time in fifteen years Tulsa has hit 100 degrees in the month of June. At just after four o’clock the reading at Tulsa International Airport hit 100. It’s the first time since 1994 that a 100-degree day has been seen in the month of June. That year however it was the only time all year the temperature hit triple digits. We won’t be that lucky this year as the heat wave is expected to continue through the rest of the week with high temperatures at or above 100 degrees through at least Saturday.

According to police officers arrived at about 3:30 a. to the Bristol Park Apartments on the 11200 block of east 45th Street. The victim told police that the suspect asked him for directions but then pulled out a semi-automatic handgun and demanded money according to police.

Tulsa to have first zone Alert day of 2009

The Indian Nations Council of Government declared Wednesday as Tulsa’s first zone Alert day for 2009 to help keep the area below the EPA’s National Ambient Air Quality Standard (NAAQS) for zone. The zone standard set by the EPA is 0. 075 parts per million (ppm) which the area exceeded on April 22. However don’t expect Wednesday to be the only zone Alert day this week said Tulsa National Weather Service meteorologist Mark Plate. Typically high zone days have both low winds and temperatures exceeding 90 degrees Fahrenheit Plate said.
