— A 7-year-old ttawa County boy who had been revived by rescue crews after almost drowning has died. Kenneth Barnett died Thursday the day after nearly drowning in waist-deep water at the Sycamore Valley Recreational Area near Wyandotte while participating in a Miami children’s program. The boy was taken to a hospital in Joplin Mo. and then flown by helicopter to a Tulsa hospital where he died.

The challenge was to cut pay while minimizing the impact to both the employees and the public. That came together with a deal to spread the pay cut evenly over the year and in the case of the fire department giving them the option of swapping out benefits instead of cash on their paycheck. The result is the same: a cut of a little more than 3%.

Although its mission will no longer exist its membership will not disband DTU Chairman Don Walker said Wednesday. ?The plan for the organization is to become a true property owners association and sustain a voice in the decisions of the Downtown Coordinating Council? he said. City officials announced in February that the coordinating council would be created to take over the management of the city?s Business Improvement District which assesses fees on property within the Inner Dispersal Loop to fund the downtown services. The council?s first meeting is set for next week.

Jackson Relative In Tulsa Says Pop Icon Under A Lot f Stress

Maurice Jackson says he hadn’t seen Michael for a number of years but has fond memories of him and his brothers.
